business-to-business Design Management package for EDMs.

Developed an interface from this company's Design Management package to an iPlanet directory server (LDAP).

This company's applications involve CGI using Tcl, C/C++, Apache, data
management, RCS/RCE, Configuration Management, server-side authentication,
and session persistence.
Synchronicity, Inc. produces Web-based CM/DM/Collaboration tools for ASIC developers. They are a pre-IPO company based in Marlboro MA.
My primary role at Synchronicity was to migrate their existing Customer support application to a dramatically different underlying (proprietary) architecture, without interrupting any services. This involved automating the data conversion, customizing the interfaces and configurations, and automating the migration itself. Additionally, I was charged with analyzing the underlying architecture and making recommendations for features and changes. I was also expected to document, prototype and test these changes.
In respect to my other Intranet-related duties, I was in charge of a project to implement an LDAP employee directory (iPlanet), create a multi-user/multi-object "free-time" scheduling wizard for a custom calendaring/scheduling system, and to automate numerous (SunOS) administrative tasks.

I continued to utilize my extensive experience with HTML, Perl, C/C++,
JavaScript/ECMA, CGI/JavaScript Cookies, LDAP, and Apache for this company long after leaving.
Addtionally, GTC uses Java/Java Servlets, DBI/ODBC, CSS, MajorDomo/MajorCool,
Jakarta Tomcat, JSERV, and various protocols (POP/SMTP, TCP/IP, SNMP, HTTP, FTP, ICMP, etc.,).

Working with over 3000 pages of content, I spend much of my time writing and
implementing Maintenance scripts.

Have worked with > 50 hosts and filers, including RedHat, DEC, Solaris, BSD, IRIX,
and Network Appliance.

Built, installed, and configured several versions of Apache (most recent was 1.3.20),
including dynamic modules, mod_perl, JSERV, and Jakarta Tomcat.

I had exposure to DBI, SyBase, Oracle, Tango, BEA WebLogic and Toplink.

The Perl scripts that I have written, include various disciplines such as Web security,
Sendmail, Databases, dynamic configuration, remote administration, process monitoring,
logfile analysis, and automatic failure recovery.

Have managed multiple-file development projects in which some files
exceeded 3000 lines of code.

Have written utilities for WinNT in C++ for network monitoring (HTTPd, FTPd, and other
Web-related processes).
Genome Therapeutics Corp. is a genomics and bioinformatics company that was the seventh most productive contributor to the Human Genome Project.
My primary responsibility here was to support numerous web-based projects and applications for both the scientific groups and the administrative groups. This involved installing and configuring Apache servers (both DSO and static) under numerous operating systems, as well as creating and modifying applications for both scientific and administrative systems.
During my tenure at GTC, I was responsible for making extensive modifications to a web-based BLASTing application (Seqweb) to utilize an entirely different sequence file format (fasta v. GCG), as well as adapting it to utilize a computing cluster (LSF), and to run an alternate blasting application (WUBLAST v. GCGBlast). Additionally, the system needed to remain in a non-blocking wait state, monitor the progress and status of the remotely-running process, and when finally complete parse the results into a format that was understood by the original application. Whew!

Designed and implemented an ISO 9001 compliant calibration program from
scratch.
Assumed responsibility for all in-house PC and embedded system programming
projects for DOS, Win3.1, Win32, and 8051C.
Designed and implemented an intranet, incorporating a HTTPd, Perl
Scripts, Security, Server extensions, SMTPd, and a search index.
Brought a fledgling manufacturing process from 2000 partially complete units
per day up to >40,000 fully complete units per day.
Direct interaction with numerous calibration and repair subcontractors, as well
as having a pivotal role in ISO 10012-1 compliance.
Maintained a calibration and maintenance system handling nearly 300 regularly
scheduled instruments and devices for FDA GMP compliance.
Member of Network Services Team, Safety Team, and a unique team known as
the "ZAPP" team.
Performed extensive PLC programming on Allen-Bradley PLC 5/12s and SLC series
PLCs for automation systems.

Designed and implemented a complete preventative maintenance program.
Managed two other technicians.
Implemented a system for tracking usage of, and replenishing spare parts inventory.
During my tenure as manager, this site was the only USAToday site technical services
department worldwide that did not require a follow up to the annual audit.
Managed several documented equipment evaluations for the USAToday corporate offices.
Was a contributing member to the installation of a complete GOSS press line, and
was critical in coordinating work with union vs. non-union electricians.

Worked on a team to install several automated systems and machinery, as well
as assisting a vendor in the installation of a synchronous AC driven wire conveyor
system..
Aided in the coordination of both maintenance and production activities between pre-press,
press room, and mailroom personnel.
During this employment, I apprenticed as an Electrician, and was registered with the
State of Massachusetts as such.
Contributed to the effective handling of the parts inventory and replenishment
system.

For about one year, I ran a home electronics repair business out of a spare bedroom in
my home. I have a complete inventory of instrumentation, including a 60mhz oscilloscope,
spectrum analyzer, time-domain reflectometer(TDR), signal injectors and tracers,
frequency counters, DMMs, inspection microscope, and parts inventory. I gave it up due
to time limitations.
