I have always enjoyed working with my hands and building things. I am an expert
at solving complex parts handling and precision placement problems. I have a
very logical thought process, which allows me to treat the cause of the
problem, rather than the symptom.
Troubleshooting has always been my strongest skill. As such, I have developed certain
mental processes that have helped in endless other aspects of both my career and
personal life..
In my many years as a Technician and then Engineer, I have designed and
fabricated numerous mechanical fixtures, parts, and machines. I have some
experience with AutoDesk products, as well as quite a bit of drafting experience.
As some of these positions were for relatively small organizations, I was
often required to fabricate the components that I designed myself. This
required me to make extensive use of machine shop equipment such as
Bridgeport Mills, Harrison and South Bend Lathes, Drilling Machines, as well
as other general tools and machinery. This gave me a much better understanding
of the limitations of fabrication when designing mechanical components.
Over the years, I have developed numerous P&P mechanisms, precision placement
and fixturing mechanisms, drivetrains, cam-driven timing mechanicals, and
elevator & indexing mechanicals. These fixtures often including integrating
off-the-shelf components with custom fixturing and mechanicals. Some of the
items that I developed or helped to develop are:
- A vacuum filling system
- Part inspection tooling
- A robotic sorting machine
- Heat sealing machinery
- A constant level filling system
